Adult Gift & Relief Fund
HPCF provides one-time relief to individuals receiving hospice care in South Carolina from a qualified agency. This program provides help to those who are unable to pay for critical unfunded expenses that insurance does not cover. This can include, but is not limited to, assisting with utility bills, mortgage payments, and wheelchair ramps. "Small gifts" in the amount of $100.00 or less are also available and can include gas/grocery cards, nutritional supplements, and other needed items.

***Important Notes - Please Read Carefully***
Please read the following regarding the new approval and funding policy for adult and pediatric applications.
This new policy takes effect Monday, September 1, 2025.
Applications for adult and pediatric hospice care patients will now be approved and funded based on a rolling month and within the per month cap outlined in our policy. Completed applications will be reviewed on the 25th day each month and approved based on the needs of that month. Applications that are approved will be funded by the last day of the month, generally by the 30th. The method of funding will depend on the options available for the vendor. Note: if the 25th day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, the review and approval process will be moved to the following business day.
It will be very important to submit all items needed for an application prior to the 25th day of the month. We are unable to hold incomplete applications over to the next month. If a complete application and supporting documentation are not received by the 25th day of the month, the process will start over the following month requiring all new items.
We are unable to hold an applicant’s place in line due to an incomplete application and/or because supporting documentation has not been submitted.
Funeral applications will be approved and funded only if there are available funds and no other requests have been submitted for approval in the same month that take priority (e.g. rent, utilities).
It is possible that an application submitted will not be approved due to a lack of available funds, because another applicant’s need is greater, and/or the per month cap has been reached. Applications for assistance with mortgage, rent, and utilities will take priority to ensure a patient’s basic needs are met. If an application is not approved during the month of submission, the applicant can reapply after the first of the next month.
If you are unsure of what is needed for a particular need, please email us first so that we can provide a detailed list. Submitting an incomplete application or incorrect supporting documentation can delay an applicant’s request for review. We can be reached at info@hpcfoundation.org.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a need that is not outlined in the lists above, please email us at info@hpcfoundation.org. Please provide as much detail as possible to better assist and advise of the next steps.
