The Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation provides assistance to individuals across South Carolina who are challenged by end of life issues.

In the face of significant challenges and loss of life

due to the COVID-19 epidemic, we are working to add components to our programs that address and support individuals and families as they confront the social, emotional and financial burdens associated with this illness.

"Although the world is full of suffering,

It is also full of overcoming it."

Educational Resource for Veterans & their Caregivers

Thanks to special funding from the CSX Corporation we are able to provide the Caring for Our Veterans booklets that address the special needs of seriously ill Veterans as well as help their loved ones navigate VA forms, processes and benefits. These are available for free to individuals and hospice & community professionals who interact directly with veterans facing end-of-life and their families. Visit our Education program page and scroll down to complete the form to request your copy. Professional staff can request up to 10 copies. Thank you to the CSX Corporation for helping us support Veterans.

The recently enacted CARES ACT, a government stimulus bill, makes it easier to give and save at the same time.  The bill makes a new deduction available for up to $300 per taxpayer ($600 for a married couple) in annual charitable contributions. This is particularly beneficial to people who take the standard deduction when filing their taxes (in other words for taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions). It is calculated by subtracting the amount of the donation from your gross income. It is an “above the line” adjustment to income that will reduce your adjusted gross income (AGI), and thereby reduce taxable income.

To qualify, you would have to give a donation to a qualified charity such as the Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation. If you have already made your donation since Jan. 1, that contribution counts toward the cap.
