Camp Hands of Hope Volunteer
Camp Hands of Hope is a program of the Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation. This year alone volunteers from across the state will provide over 1,500 hours of service in support of the children and families attending our all-inclusive weekend long bereavement camps.
"I have worked with multiple grief camps throughout the Southeast and this was my best experience by far.
The curriculum is planned out for each child and the parents/guardians benefited as well! I love that it provides such a bonding experience and opportunities to honor their loved ones together.
Music therapy provided positive peer interactions, appropriate self-expression and creativity within each group. We used drumming to write songs, chants and dicuss meaningful lyrics that related to the grief process.
These sessions brought about many smiles, a few tears and lots of laughter! It was sweet to see the children come together to perform their final product."
